The Blackstone Meet Main Street
Supported by Grants for Arts Projects funding awarded by the National Endowment for the Arts (NEA) early this year, teens from the nonprofit organization’s Arts Education and Training (AET) program collected stunning footage of the Blackstone River that is now being projected across Woonsocket’s downtown urban landscape. Still images along the walls of businesses and offices meet audio and video projections of the river’s seasonal changes and moods. Springing from hidden alcoves and windows along Main Street, the multimedia installation reconnects the heart of the city to the natural environment that has shaped its industrial history.
